Cool, so boost sounds similar to a 50trim, which I was running before.

Currently running a kinetic kit w. 3071, with SEM and 70mm TB. Boost comes on pretty quick and builds fast, but I've got it turned down right now due to lack of traction. I need to save some money up and get an LSD, than consider working the AEB head into the mix. To many things to do, and not enough money to do it with

Tyler, looked good when I spotted you at CAW the other day.

I gotta say though, I don't know why you want to be in the audi section, they all break way more!

Either way, looks good next time I see you around you'll have to take me for a rip, major props for this whole build.

I feel 'ya on that. The funny thing is, due to how linear the boost curve is now, I actually have better traction now than I did with the 2860. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise though. By and large, the BB turbos are peakier than the journal bearing ones. Have you considered trying to smooth the torque onset by means of a MBC or EBC? If you could just cut the boost spike on initial spool, you can keep some traction as you gain momentum. Then once you're moving you should be OK.

            Re: My 60-1 build

I use an MS-IBC boost controller, I have played with gain and duty cycle. I have a nice smooth build of power, just lack the traction to put it down. I need a LSD first. I don't have any mean boost spikes at all, just the issue of gradually breaking traction
The boost controller I am using works very well. By comparison my 50 trim had nice linear (albeit slower) build of boost and created less traction issues. I certainly don't regret switching to the 3071 however as there is just more power with less boost (by the butt dyno for now), and the power comes on sooner. fwiw I made 343whp with the 50t at 24psi, using the stock intake and TB. I will get to the dyno again sometime I the future, the last couple attempts I got a run around from the dyno operator, so I'll have to look for another dyno to put it on.

I've known I'll need a LSD from the get go, but budget pushed that to the back burner. My only other concern is weather or not the o2j can handle the power, if I do put the money into a LSD.

What are you running for tuning? I didn't read to much of your build thread, just clicked on the pics and skimmed briefly.

              Re: My 60-1 build

Eurodyne Maestro 630CC file for tuning, works great. As for the LSD, I have project in the works for my 01A. I've got the torsen rear diff from an '89 Audi V8. The measurements side to side on the thrust bearings are the same and the ring gears are compatible. What I need now is a stock diff to pull the bearings off and spec them and to get some measurements off of to let me hard chrome it to the proper specs. (not a very clear explanation, I know, but I'm in a hurry)

Cool, I'm running maestro 630cc as well. Did you do any tweaks to the base file?

                  Re: My 60-1 build

Added 10% timing to the off boost areas of the cells (sub 4000 RPM and low load) and richened up part of the fuel correction tables to give me a little more fuel under WOT (5% addition IIRC). I used the histograms and logs to isolate the relevant cells.

I'm running the same software and injectors, I've also added timing below boost, but so far haven't been able to completely sort out my fueling. I went so far as to try to generate new alpha n values (thanks blackmarket), but that didn't work out to well. As it sits I've added %30 to primary fuel and my car is running well with minimal issues. When I had the 50trim, the canned tune with added timing under boost was pretty much bang on.

Odd that the 3071R would be giving it that much in the line of issues. It flows the same amount of air (if not a little bit less) than a 50 trim. Any idea as to why it's acting up?

It's not off the line, there is no issue really other than the need for a limited slip. I get wheel spin from 3800rpm on. Of course turning the boost down will stop this but that's just no fun.

Yeah I feel you on that one, not looking forward to putting on the snow tires. I really need to get my hands on a stock diff so I can get this torsen one installed for the winter.

For someone in law school you really aren't too bright. But then, there are many stupid lawyers so what can i say.

To proclaim this site has gone downhill and to post an opening diatribe like you did simply further shows why you get the flak you get. R-Audi hit it square on the head. As for saying there isn't anything here but pictures and videos, i've done two complete build threads on this site, and graeme has had his share of tech stuff too. Ryan's had build info, and there is lots of good stuff posted.

Why you can't just be happy with having a VW i dont know.
