  • Remote starter - bad idea?

Like the title suggests. I'm looking into options to make this upcoming winter as comfortable as possible and a remote starter is high on the list.

A quick google on the subject suggests that a remote starter can produce conflicting behaviour with other electrical components but I don't know any VAG owners that have starters installed to validate this (which is probably a bad sign in itself).

So what's the verdict? Anyone have hands on experience with a remote starter on an Audi? Please share your experiences good or bad.

    Thanks!

If it's installed properly what is there to ruin? A bricked immobilizer would/should be covered by the installer if they botch the job.

Excessive idling is far worse for your car.

If you're looking for a warm car when you get inside, look into an inline coolant heater like a Webatso (or cheaper/less industrial version).
