usa spec, why couldnt they put sidemarker into the lights like mk2 tt and 7R, also there are some extra ones on the rear too, blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Audi is preparing to launch an entry-level R8 in 2018 and a new report is indicating it will be powered by a biturbo V6 engine.

Citing "reliable sources," Car & Driver is reporting the model will feature a 3.0-liter biturbo V6 engine that is related to the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 that powers the Audi S4. Nothing is official but the magazine is reporting the engine will produce approximately 450 horsepower.

The engine will be connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system. Performance specifications remain unconfirmed but the model will reportedly have a top speed of roughly 190 miles per hour.

While previous reports suggested the entry-level R8 would feature a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, one insider told the magazine “A five-cylinder engine in the R8 would have created a strange internal competition between the entry-level R8 and the TT RS."

The new engine will be offered alongside the current 5.2-liter V10 that has outputs of 540 hp and 398 pound-feet of torque as well as 610 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. The report goes on to say an even more powerful V10 variant is in the works but sadly there's no word on when it will arrive or how much power it will produce.

I'm not a big fan of the split side blades on the coupe, but the fact that the spyder can now have a side blade because of that design is pretty nice.

Audi is introducing the R8 Spyder V10 model at the New York Auto Show that opens its doors for visitors on 25 March.

Following the fully revealing spy photos from earlier this month, we now have all the details and official images of the R8 Spyder V10 to share. Audi is trying to keep the weight of the car as low as possible so it has decided to use a lightweight cloth hood that is controlled by an electro-hydraulic mechanism. It opens and closes the hood in 20 seconds up to a speed of 31 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour). Thanks to the cloth top, the vehicle weighs 3,553 pounds (1,612 kilograms).

Power comes from the familiar 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 540 horsepower (397 kilowatts) and 398 pound feet (540 newton meters) of torque at 6,500 rpm. These figures provide a 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 197.6 mph (318 km/h).

Seeking a better fuel efficiency, the Germans have installed a freewheeling mode, where the R8 coasts with the engine decoupled. As a result, the convertible consumes 20.1 US miles per gallon (11.7 liters per 100 kilometers) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 277 grams per kilometer.

The V10 engine channels its power to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox with two clutches and the company’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. It can operate in four modes controlled by the Audi drive select system.
