The model year that I want is 2001.5 and as we all know, the majority of people out there don't know the diff between a 2001 and 2001.5.

Is there any way that I can look at the VIN and see if the car is an 01 or 01.5? Were there external styling changes between the 01 and 01.5 that would make it easier to identify an 01.5 vs an 01?

01.5 up are easy to tell.. they will have the new badges on the trunk/grill/cluster
ESP on them
no F hose under the hood
and a H/M/T box ECU
the build dates are a bit harder for canadian ones as mine has an american build date of a normal 01 but its an 01.5 which a bunch of canucks on AW have the same deal as me so

ditto to Ryan. Some 2001.5 have the brushed alum side view mirrors too as an option.

How is the rust protection on them? Would they be similar to the mk4 VWs? I'm having trouble finding one that I want here or in BC, but I've seen a few in Ontario.. The only thing is that they've probably been driven in the salty goodness of winter :thumbdown:

oh, and did all 2001.5's come with the sport package?

rust warranty is same as vws 12 year... no sport package was still an option.. it included alcantara seats/door inserts and the brushed alumium mirrors.. thats it.. its hard to find them with the sport package here.. or ones that have it are stupid tiptronics.

here are the best colors and pretty much all you need to know..

best in order
nagaro
imola
silver
laser red

options.. sport package (as mentioned above), ESP, ghetto nav

everything else is standard

of course it was if you really want to get an S4 in a certain flavour check out richview fine cars here in town.. they have a few for sale in the trader right now.. they will bring them in from other provinces for you.. just ask to see the work previously done on the car.. get the VIN even and run a carfax to see if it comes up good then your all set..

its not a full color screen nav.. its just a module that shows directions in your cluster.. you have to add the euro/a6+/newer models nav to get the LCD screen
