  • Maserati GranCabrio

Maserati has released the first official images of their highly anticipated GranCabrio.

Essentially a convertible version of the sexy GranTurismo coupe, the new GranCabrio is the first four-seat convertible in Maserati's history. The beautiful Pininfarina styling carries over, while a new canvas roof provides open-air enjoyment. According to Maserati, "The GranCabrio enriches all five senses in a shared open-air experience, without sacrificing comfort and performance."

Featuring the longest wheelbase on the market, the GranCabrio should offer plenty of rear legroom. While official specifications are still pending, Maserati says "rear passengers are not merely supporting actors, but co-stars of the journey."

The only confirmed engine is the 323 kW (440 bhp) 4.7-liter V8 from the GranTurismo S, but an entry-level 4.2-liter V8 (with 405 bhp) may be offered in the future.

The Maserati GranCabrio will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales starting in spring 2010.
