  • Greetings from the great white north V2.0

Howdy all, I was referred to this board by a fellow who, IIRC goes by the handle of Big Shane. So, a little about myself. I hail from Calgary and have been in the wrenching game for about 15 years now (non professionally except for a 3 month stint at a Diesel shop). Most of my cars have been SAABs however a couple of years back I came into possession of a 98 passat 1.8T Tiptronic, AKA: Black Betty.

Black Betty and I have had a love hate relationship over the years. She's kind of like that one crazy ex girlfriend who took all your money, had weekly meltdowns and made you run all over town for her but damn if she wasn't so sexy you couldn't put her down! Anyway, Here are some pics.

Thank you much, it's good to finally see some forum members who live in Calgary. It'd be nice to compare notes on a few things, i.e. boost levels and timing at altitude, etc... As I said in the OP if there's anyone in Calgary who needs a VAG-COM just PM me and I'll be happy to help. Hell, even if someone needs a second set of hands on something I'd probably be willing to help out.

BTW BillyJoelR, my parents live just off the lake on one of the acreages. I'm out there pretty often so PM me one of these days, I'd like to see your ride.

PS: I also have a copy of Durametric (Porsche diagnostics), for my parents Boxster. However I think it's limited to 3 vehicles. If someone cares to correct me (i.e. it's not limited) I'd be happy to offer it as well.

I may or may not have seen you going North on Mcleod by the willow park intersection. I drive the gray Jetta. Nice Passat!

You may be right, it's from Fifth Ave. I guess the owner stripped the T belt and one of the techs there bought it and flipped it. I think his name was Chris. Who made the spoiler? I've never seen another Passat anywhere with one.

                  I envy those houses.
We'll go for a cup of Timmies & talk cars.
I know nothing about VWs, so maybe you can teach me a thing or two.

Maybe I'll have to bring her by one of these days. She's undergone quite a transformation since I've got her.
