  • Revwerks 996TT Project Car

    Hey Guys,
Thought i would post up my current build, Purchased the car early January was a local to Calgary car 2003 996 Twin Turbo... Drove it for like 250KM and than started ripping it apart for the build..

Here is how i bought it..

First things first, Speaker amplifier was not working when i purchased the car its a known problem on the 996 so i rewired the car with a decent sounding sound system..

    -Alpine W505
    -Alpine 4 channel
-Alpine Mono Amplifier to Power the Factory Bose Sub Box
-Kept the factory Bose sub box as it looks great and is super clean..

Couple days later i pulled the front end off the car

Ordered this bad boy in!! (996 GT2 Front end Conversion, OEM Poly Lip, OEM Poly Grill)

Than ordered in some Techart Vent Scoops..

Here is the head unit installed

I really didn't like the wheels that came on the car, and iv always driven Japanese vehicles im still in my transition phase so i ordered in a set of wheels that was something out of the ordinary..

Got some Fancy Hardware for the wheels

The official benchmark of wheel sizing is the iPhone..

Next thing up rear bumper came off the car (i hate bumperettes)

    Test fitting the Techart scoops

    Ordered in some other goodies..

    OLD

    NEW

    Than got a new Exhaust..

    Some CF Door Sills

    Wheel Teaser Pic..

Dont really like the look of the rear decklid..

    OLD

So i ordered a Techart Rear Decklid and CF Spoiler..

    Than we sprayed it..

Than looking at the car we figured the rear wiper had to go.. so we deleted it..

And that's about all i have as of right now.. Hoping to get her in for paint soon and finally get it out on the road.. all in time for the drive down to Wuste!!

Man you confirmed what I always thought; it would be a LOT OF WORK to get a 996 looking/feeling good.

You sure it's worth it vs a 997 or a Cayman or Boxster? That bumper kit must have cost more than many people's cars.

996TT to a cayman or a boxter isnt really a fair comparison, is it?

Car looks great dude, I'll be watching this thread for sure!

              Re: Revwerks 996TT Project Car

996TT isn't fair comparison to Boxster/Cayman for speed, but for looks sure why not? It's looks that this thread has been after so far... all these mods are just for looks. Maybe cheaper to make a Cayman/Boxster faster than to make a 996 look good.

997 on the other hand, I believe that the 997 Carrera S was tested faster than the 996TT by many magazines...

If it's Porsche it's all about the 911, & the only part of the 996 that isn't cosmetically pleasing to the masses are the headlights.
996TT vs 997CS, that's an interesting comparison, with the similar price points.

It must be nice to have money. Amazing car though. Never been a fan of 996's but I'm interested to see how this turns out.

Yes the Cayman S caught my eye for sure and was actually less money than the 996TT, Performance comparison we are talking about two completely different cars though... Especially if you plan for modifications down the road the 3.6TT is an amazing motor and it accepts mods like none-other.. A simple Re-flash on the Stock ECU is 100HP

Between AWE, Vivid racing and a couple other well known manufacturers you upgrade your OEM core K24 (GT2 Turbos) to house a bigger compressor wheel 18g or 20g, intercoolers and injectors followed by a re-flash and you are in the 600WHP game on pump 91.. Everything is OEM and with OEM parts comes OEM fitment, Turbos bolt right up without any modification, GT2 / X50 intercoolers bolt right up and re-flash takes under 5 minutes to upload..
