  • onceovers B6 A4 build/progression thread

This has been 4 years in the making. Figured I should post a bit of a build/progession thread.

I've been meaning to do this for a while now, so here we go. I have to say I didn't take nearly as many photos as I wanted throughout the process.

Bought the car about 4 years ago at an auction, bone stock 2004 1.8T 6 speed sport package

First set of mods was a VMR boost gauge and test pipe

Next came VMR V708 18" wheels and a Magnaflow 16601 exhaust

OEM 17s got designated for winter duty

Then blacked out grills, rings and rear trunk trim

    LED license plate lights

Then picked up a USP front from Greg @ DTH while I was on a roadtrip and some LED tails

Next came a GTRS with all the goodies

This is how she sat for a while

The GTRS was a bit too much on the stock clutch... Upgrade time!

Found a great deal on some wilwoods:

Then I got way too good of a deal on some AMG monoblocks that I couldnt pass up

They didnt quite fit with the original tires...

A little bit of stretch and some fresh paint:

    Some new center caps

This is where the fun begins...
About two weeks before my trip to europe, my head cracked and started burning coolant. At the time I thought it was the head gasket, so I thought it would be an easy fix and picked up some parts.

When I tore into it I found this:

It sat like this for 2 months while I travelled...

Picked this up in europe to travel in, and brought it home with me afterwards: E34 M5

Along with tons of euro parts:

When I got back, I picked up a built short block and an AEB head. Time for some power!

Friend of mine getting excited to tear into it AGAIN

    Tear it out!

Floating engine. Built short block, AEB head. Time for fun!

    Continued:
    Coming together

    Done in time for winter

After the engine build, the exhaust was significantly more droney for some reason. Time for some dynamat to quiet things down

    New windshield time!

    Best friends

New home at the girlfriends house

    Test fitting some new wheels

Towards the end of winter, my GTRS decided it didnt want to make boost anymore. Time for some upgrades!

GT3076R with PSi concepts goodies, bigger FMIC, etc.

Decided to get my valve cover powercoated because it looked like crap

    Getting buttoned up

But that wasn't enough. The paint was starting to look like crap and I figured it was a good time for an entire makeover before Wuste. Let the disassembly begin!

    Test fitting the euro trunk

Gotta make it ugly before it gets pretty!

    Getting ready for primer

Shaving rear bumper moulding line and prepping for molding a B7 S-line rear diffuser

Unfortunatley I dont have any photos of the painting process, but here she is coming together after fresh paint

Refinished my brake rotors and calipers

More parts painted 3 days before leaving for Wuste

    Success!

Some engine monitoring goodies from Podi!

                - I actually liked the dark grey valances better than the red, don't ask my why but it seemed more rugged or something
                - Nice find on all the euro parts! Awesome navi system
