The paint on the calipers looked nasty after the track day, so I decided polish one of the brake calipers and see the result. Only went with 220grit, 400grit, and 1500grit, because I didn't have 800 grit but it seemed pretty smooth. The buffed with autoglym metal polish.





Then I installed a new shifter bushing from MK1 TT. Shifter felt firmer but that's about it.

Next upgrade is the MK5 GLI steering wheel.

Got my black stiched GLI wheel today and was so happy it wasn't a scam. The wheel is virtually brand new and gripping on it feels soooooooooooo good! Still waiting for the airbag from China. Should be able to get it installed in a week or two.

It should work because the light didn't come up, I did cut up a skoda octavia loom to swap over the plugs on the airbag side, the airbag is a brand new single stage used by FAW-VW in their Lavidas and New Boras which uses the same clockspring and airbag control module as the original bora. If the NA cars use the same stuff as the euro boras i should be alright.

Looks good! Hopefully you don't find out the hard way if the airbag works or not. Would be cool if you could snag a mk1 tt dead pedal to complete the look and bring the interior together.

A little update.
Mk5 and 6 wheel swaps seems very common now so I decided to do something very different, in fact I have never seen this swap on the internet after extensive researches, fitting this shift knob was a biatch, had to cut, glue and trim so much. It was worth it though because the knob is a pistol grip style and the alcantara surface so it doesn't get slippery at all in hot summer driving.
I here claim to be the first to fit a Mk2 skoda octavia VRs shift knob into a Mk4 VW.
As for the exterior I removed those stickers on the rear window and added a mk4 v6 badge on the grille.

Got some Bora R xenon lights and 6000K xenon kit from concept one today! I then polished the car and wheels after installing the lights.

The xenons made a huge difference compared to my stock lights, lights up the road like no other. Installation was very straight forward, the only thing that required some thinking was where to mount the ballasts, ignitors and resistor.
