  • Had a run in with a cop today.

A police cruiser closely followed me out of Ramsay today for about a km and then pulled up beside me at a stop light and gestured at me to roll my window down. I couldn't think of anything I did wrong so I rolled down the window to see what he wanted. He pointed at my car and said " Man that car is Clean!" "What have you done to it?" He then went on to tell me about a wicked RS7 he pulled over earlier today and mentioned a buddy has an RS4 that is very fragile.

Nice to meet a cop who is also a car enthusiast!

Here's an old photo to make this thread more interesting...

Just taking this discussion sideways.. I'd be curious to see how tuned up a cop car is...? Anyone got any insight to this?

Depends on the car. A lot of the new fords have the twin turbo ecoboost, makes for a pretty quick car.

Here's the list of some of its goodies:

"Pursuit Mode" for the six-speed automatic transmission. Ford says this "optimizes upshifts and downshifts for aggressive driving," so it's probably a bit like "Sport Mode" on any other car. The software is "tuned to perform a reverse J-turn, which is when a reversing vehicle is spun 180 degrees and continues, face forward, without changing direction of travel."

"Surveillance Mode" which rolls up the driver's window and locks the doors when someone approaches the rear of the vehicle.
Enhanced electrical system that distribute electrical loads more efficiently.

            Special instrument panel.

Beefier cooling system to accommodate long idle times.
Special brakes "designed to withstand excessive use." 18" steel wheels are supposed to have high venting characteristics to help cool the brakes.

The Explorer ships with Ford's new base V6, the 3.7 liter naturally aspirated engine with 304 horsepower and 279 lb.-ft. of torque, it can also come with the 3.5 EcoBoost with 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.
