  • Started my mods

Here is a pic of what I have done this weekend (besides drink beer), installed the smoked side markers, painted my head lights and grill badge. Head lights are flat black and the grill badge is metal flake blue with a coat of gloss black, It looks black but when there is strong light the blue metal flake shines through.

Next is tint and then wheels, wheels will take some time as they are not cheap

I also rebadged the trunk with the Bora badge.

Just incase you are woundering the plate is photochoped I am not a porn star

Update. TT short atenna, modiified air intake to 3" & tinted windows. Updated pictures soon.

Thanks! I used a hair drier on set on high. I had to take my bumber off to get the lights out. It was not hard you need a good selection of torx bits. At least VW uses all metal fastners and not cheap plastic ones like jap cars. The only hitch I ran into was puting the bumper back on I did not slide it in to the clips on the car and it kind of bulged out. But once I noticed what was up it slid riight in.

I also took my time and did other things (other than drink beer) while I waited for the paint to dry between coats. I rotated my tires and presure washed the engine bay.

The first thing I did when I got it home was remove the front plate but someone drilled 3/4" holes in to the bumper to get the back plate to mount. It looks the shitz with out the plate. I have to think of away to fill the big a$$ holes and not have it look like crap. I want to focus on getting wheels so I don't want to go buy a new bumper.

                Did somebody say, headlight removal?
                http://www.ottawa-vdubbing.com/info/...mper/index.htm

yeah, my front bumper has 2 big-ass holes in it from where the stupid dealer drilled some stupid holes for my stupid front plate mount. Not much you can do unless you feel like taking your bumper off again and going wild with the bondo!

I actually stuck my headlights in the oven to get them off. 300C for a few minutes softened them up quite nicely.

Look for some stainless steel bolts for the holes or something like that maybe?

How did you tint the headlights? What's the process exactly? Did you replace them or darken them yourself? I have a black Jetta and too and was thinking how cool a dark accent would look.

When the car comes through the dealer for PDI if the province your in requires you to have a front plate we as techs have to use a 1 inch hole saw to remove bumper material to expose the mounting fixtures for the plate frame. I remember my first time drilling 1 inch holes in a bumper cover with no template. What an experience! You can get factory plugs to cover up the holes. I don't know the part numbers but they are available.

I did it in my garage. I put 4 or 5 light coats of paint on them before reassembling the headlight. It took all day as I waited for the paint to dry before respraying. This is not a job you want to rush. As it will look like crap if you do.

Thanks Volkstech for the tip I will look in to it.

Cool . . . sounds like a good way to kill a Sunday. I wouldn't mind seeing a close up shot of the finished units. I'd also like to see a shot of your blue VW crest in the sun . . . sounds cool.
