  • Land Rover Defender Concept - DC100

Land Rover has unveiled the DC100 concept which previews the upcoming next-generation Defender.

The model will debut to the public at the Frankfurt motor show in two weeks and Land Rover will likely provide more details then.

Says Land Rover's director of design, Gerry McGovern:

"Replacing the iconic Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world; it is a car that inspires people worldwide. This isn't a production-ready concept but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century."

Land Rover has confirmed that production on the next-generation Defender will begin in 2015.

Me too. Looks like it should have a kia or daewoo badge on the front.

Re: Land Rover Defender Concept - DC100

I wonder if it is good at what it does.

The Defender is famous for the same reason the FJ40 is famous. Simple, ridiculous reliability, overbuilt. Using a whole bunch of computers, fancy body bits, plastic bumpers, just not sure it is going to be useful for what it is designed for.

            It is also hideous.

Looks reasonably okay to me. It appears to have good approach angles front and rear, probably is quite capable off road.

Don't like the front, but the side looks cool. Not feeling the convertible..
