  • 2016/17 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the all-new C-Class Coupe lineup, but we will have to wait a bit more for the C63 .

We've seen the compact premium coupe from Daimler in numerous spy photos and videos, so the mini S-Class Coupe vibe shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Compared to the model it replaces, the new C-Class Coupe is 95 mm (3.7 inches) longer and 40 mm (1.6 inches) wider while the wheelbase has been stretched by 80 mm (3.1 inches).

So far Mercedes-Benz is only mentioning the C300 version and its 4MATIC counterpart with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 241 bhp and 273 lb-ft of torque. We expect the coupe to use the same array of engines as the sedan and wagon from where it will also source the gearboxes and optional air suspension.

As you would expect from a latest generation model with the three-pointed star, the C-Class Coupe features lots of safety & assistance systems like adaptive cruise control (up to 124 mph), brake assist, active lane keeping assist, active parking assist and a 360-degree camera. One clever function is the air conditioning's ability to work with the sat-nav system to close the air recirculation flap automatically whenever entering a tunnel and then it opens it after exiting the tunnel.

Full details will likely be released in the weeks to come ahead of a Frankfurt Motor Show debut in mid-September. The Euro-spec model will go on sale before the year's end whereas the US-spec model is going to be available next spring. The American version will come generously equipped as standard with LED headlights, keyless start, sport suspension and a panorama sunroof. It will be offered with an optional Sport Appearance Package with AMG-styled bumpers and side sills, diamond radiator grille with chrome pins, along with 18-inch AMG wheels, sport pedals and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

    As a final note, the range-topping Mercedes-AMG C63 & C63 S Coupe will be unveiled on August 19.

    Re: 2016/17 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

Mercedes-AMG has released full details about the C63 Coupe following a preview earlier today.

Set to go on sale in Germany in March, the high-performance coupe has a familiar design but adopts an aggressive front bumper, a front splitter and an AMG-branded grille. The model also has an aluminum powerdome hood, a trunk-mounted spoiler and a new rear bumper with a diffuser that is flanked by a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system.

Mercedes didn't have much to say about the interior but it features ARTICO / DINAMICA sport seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and AMG badging on the center stack.

Power is provided by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 476 PS (469 bhp / 349 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) - or 290 km/h (180 mph) with the optional AMG's Driver's Package.

Buyers looking for something more powerful can opt for the C63 S Coupe which features an upgraded twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 510 PS (503 bhp / 375 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the car to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds before topping out at an electronically-limited 250 km/h (155 mph) - or 290 km/h (180 mph) with the optional AMG's Driver's Package.

Speaking of performance, the C63 Coupe has been equipped with a sport-tuned suspension and an AMG-specific rear end with a unique axle carrier, a wider track, stiffer elastokinematic tuning and a higher negative camber. The model also has a limited-slip rear differential, dynamic engine mounts (on the C63 AMG S) and an AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adjustable damping.
