I gotta say, I am all AGAINST England making it past the 1/4 finals. Their kick & run style football may be effective for them, but is so damn boring. I will be cheering for Spain, Portugal, Germany and Holland. Realistically though, since Poland is out, I dont really care who takes it. I just wanna see some bloody good football!

Blair, I know the feeling of being in Europe for events like this. I was in spain for the final of Euro 2000. CRAZY TIME!

I very much enjoy the World Cup as well, the last 2 I have been in Europe during so I am going to miss that atmosphere. I remember sitting outside in Greece at a small cafe on a small island watching matches with locals and a few other tourists in 2006.

I am very happy that CBC is covering too as they usually put more into it and will stream all the games as well.

I think I will be putting my support behind the English as usual, hope they can make a good run.

Germany should have a cake-walk through the group play. It'll be interesting to see how they line up with their new mix of younger players (Ozil, Marin, Gomez, etc).

I'm really excited to see how some of the African teams play - I think there will be some big surprises this summer!

I would not write off Ivory coast (not yet anyways). They are the strongest of the African nations on paper with Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and YaYa and Kolo Touré. They have played at highest level in Europe and have that experince. In some respect they are playing on home soil, so they going to be up for a fight. Portugal have to qualify through the playoffs. Brazil are Brazil, great players. But look at what USA did to them in the confederations cup final. I do admit I do find it hilarious of all teams that North Korea are placed with these teams.
I think England can do some damage this time, Capello is doing a good job. I don't see anyone else except statue reflex James being in goal. Foster is a bit Rambo going wrong at times. If all goes well, they'l meet Brazil in the semi finals....

Apart from the Portugal Vs Brazil feud, I cant really see the other games in group G being too surprising. Brazil have always had phenomenal players and have known how to move the ball, and Portugal now has quite a few stars too who know how to play the game well. What exactly would north korea and ivory coast bring?

    3 LIONS!

Just gotta sort the keeping position.
Foster? Shaky at United to start the season. Pretty young too.
Robbo? Euro qualifying failure ixnayed him.
Greene? I think is most likely.
Calamity James? I think is backup.
Hart? Very young. Can't see it.

Fat Frank at holder and Stevie G as an attacking mid, IS finally the chemistry from those two that I've wanted.

Seems to be a pool that favors the English. Although ya don't know which yankees team shows up. Slovenia, .. typical of the Balkans.. tackle hard, strike hard, lose hard. Don't know much about the Algerians.. home continent has to help .

    I'm so pumped.
