Thats actually a really good point? Anyone have any insight on this?Originally posted by Silverstoned View PostWouldn't you want to start at the bottom and work up, or at least for the hood so the tape is less likely to catch wind if it starts to peel?

Re: Protecting the front end!
i did it last year for my trip to Vancouver last summer. i had a little residue when i took it off. nothing a little goo-gone couldn't take off. like mentioned before lay it horizontally . simple. Make sure something witty is written on the side as well! good luck. safe trip!

Re: Protecting the front end!
Apply it horizontally, starting from the top and working your way to the bottom of the bumper. Blue 3m tape usually works the best, just dont leave it on for too long and if it rains make sure you change it. Every time you stop make sure none of the tape is coming off as it will pick up sand and rocks and scratch the **** out of your paint. Oh and make sure you write something witty with it on your hatch or doors

Protecting the front end!
Looking for some input from a few of you Wuste participants/highway drivers!
I'm picking up my .:R next week and have a long haul back. Since its all highway, I dont want to encounter too many rock chips in the front bumper/hood/mirrors. I know some of you tape the front ends with painters tape to protect it for the drive.
Now my question may be stupid, but are there any tricks to doing/applying this or is it just simply taping the front end? Is one painters tape better suited for this application than another? how many layers of the tape do you apply? Do you apply vertically/horizontally? like I said these may be dumb questions, but i'd rather get the answers now than do it wrong and regret not asking.
All input and suggestions are appreciated guys. Thanks!Last edited by P Arkus; 04-23-2010, 11:48 AM.Tags: None
