Re: Protecting the front end!
When you're driving 4000+ km's of straight highway, its a bit more likely to get bad rock chips than when you're driving 10km's through residential streets. Besides, I think $10 worth of scotch tape and a bit of time is worth alot more than spending hundreds of dollars repainting a front end

Re: Protecting the front end!
Dont know if you meant that towards me Alex, but I'll be getting the 3M done as soon as I get back to Calgary. I just dont see the point of putting 3M on a bumper thats already chipped to sh!t from the drive back to calgary.

Re: Protecting the front end!
I have 3m on the hood, fenders, mirrors, bumper, a-pillars.........
The roadwrap idea works, but if you just put 3m on, you don't have to worry about road trips and put the wrap on and take it off al the time......
BUT, $22 is a hella good price if you don't want to fork over $600 for 3mLast edited by popp; 04-23-2010, 01:24 PM.

Re: Protecting the front end!
^^^ this. Starting from the front back up the hood exposes the edge of the overlapped tape to wind and road crap. If you miss a bit this way, more chance of flapping and crap getting under the tape than if you go from the top down the hood.Originally posted by VW337 View PostI have always started at the top and worked my way to the bottom so that the edges aren't exposed to the wind (the next layer will cover up the leading edge). I also wrapped the last hood strip slightly underneath the hood to make sure the wind didn't catch it.

Re: Protecting the front end!
I'd love to try out the road wrap, but seeing as i'm leaving in 5 days, it doesnt allow much time for delivery. Either way, i'm sure the blue tape will work great. Anyways Chris, how are you gonna write something witty on your door with road wrap???
