I'm a big Kata fan, two bags, new strap, and another bag in mind … Although the new bag isn't needed, only wanted.

    I've currently got:

My daily bag, notebook fits in the back nicely.

My walk around bag, camera gear only.

The replacement strap I bought, with two pockets on it currently in use by two CF cards.

I'd like to replace my current lowpro with that one. I've almost bought it a couple times.

If you wanted a fair amount of storage you'd be looking at something like a 3N1-10 (they also have larger sizes as well).

alex that lowepro you have how much storage does it have other than the camera? like the top pouch part?

if i can stuff a lonely planet/map/iphone in there that would be swell
then main part looks enough for the body+big lens and additional lense and other random crap ?

well in asia i was able to squish it all into a camcorder bag that was able to nicely fit in my normal backpack but i can't do that with the big lens on it

    Re: camera bag suggestions?

I'f you're not planning on doing anything rough with it, why not just toss your camera in your regular backpack? I often throw mine in my hydropack when I'm biking. I even took a nasty spill at Whistler and other than a broken filter on the front of the lens it came out pretty well.

What I'm trying to say is that if you're pretty sure you don't need all the padding and protection of a camera bag, you can get away without one. If you get a camera bag that's small enough to go in your backpack, you'll need a bigger backpack, or a camera bag that is only just big enough to hold the camera and the one lens. As I recall you didn't really want to swap lenses anyway right? You can throw your charger, memory card and what not into the backpack without worry. If you want to make sure it doesn't scratch anything, just throw the charger and memory cards in a sock before putting in the backpack.
