Re: Let's Talk Phones
I can't complain about my HTC legend, so far it has done everything it has been asked to do without complaint. The screen is great, and I like that it is smaller than other similar phones.

Re: Let's Talk Phones
i played with a torch the other day. Not a fan, to heavy and bulky, when the keyboard is open it is huge and top heavy to type with one hand is tough. I would probably only use the touch keyboard. The 9700 is by far then only choice if choosing a BB and with OS6 coming out for the 9700 it is a no brainerLast edited by popp; 10-16-2010, 01:42 PM.

But, but... you neeeeeed to get the Iphone!!!! c'mon Pat step it up!Originally posted by Euro Dub PL View PostI got to play around with the new BB Torch on thursday. Seems like a really cool phone with the best of both worlds (touch screen and qwerty keyboard), but in all honesty, its way more crap than I would ever need out of my phone. I use my phone mainly to text, receive emails, talk, and browse the web once in a while. My BB 9700 does all those things well enough.
PS. i love my bb

Re: Let's Talk Phones
Non-BES phones don't (entirely) allow for app loading policies, web filtering, or (in our case specifically) internal network access to custom web apps, or recording all mails and communications into the 'compliance journal' (I know Win. mobile phones will, but I don't know about the others).
The custom apps is more of a 'one off' kind of requirement but most places I have been at like to have their smart phones on their websense (or whatever) so they don't end up becoming roving porn facilities.
Not that I am against porn... Not even for a minute. Unless the chicks are gross.

Re: Let's Talk Phones
yea I think jail breaking might be the route to go, it just pisses me off because on my cardio days at the gym I would love to have a vid to watch during the 40+mins im on the bike but spending time converting it the night before is a huge pain, I don't know if I just have an inefficient converter but it generally takes 30mins per 1 hr episode to convert which is incredibly unreasonable. I never worry about space on it either, although my ipod touch is only 16gig I never have more than 1 episode on at a time (if ever).Originally posted by aliencurv View PostThe extra time to convert the video file is for your benefit and confused as a proprietary apple decision. The reason is the conversion resizes the file so more can fit in your device. Also, the QuickTime mp4 format is far more effecient and great for motion video then other video codecs.
If u went with an android or windows phone, you will be able to play more video formats, but have less space and control.
Also, if you u jailbreak the iPhone, you can play any video format if u wish.
I am wondering though (as Im not very tech savy) but what constitutes an "efficient" vido format. I watch old series (nothing in HD) on my laptop and people "offer" them in both mp4 and .avi format and the .avi format ones take WWWWWAAAYYYY less memory to run and are generally much better quality than any of the mp4 format versions i've found. Don't know if its a quicktime thing maybe? i've just always found it is painful trying to play anything on quicktime on any computer i've owned.

Re: Let's Talk Phones
I run our bes and iphones work fine for pushing/sync'ing with the email. Not perfect for accepting meeting requests etc but unless your company has special software or weird security req's the iphone4 works just fine for business IMO (finally!). Other than not syncing notes.Originally posted by NeonGTI View PostI don't pay for cellphones; I use what work will pay for and to that end until something trumps BES the BBs will continue to come out on top.
Haven't tried a droid but I'd assume it would do the mail/calendar etc just fine?
