    Re: Diesel trucks

6.0l powerstrokes have headgasket problems and it's a very expensive repair. Cummins are good engines but dodge rear ends, transmission, steering boxes and pretty much the rest of the truck sucks. Gm's have good tranny's and my dad has had multiple duramax's up to 500000km and only real problem with the engine was injectors. IMO gm/chev has the best setup and they drive the best hands down(can't deny that). Although I don't know how much of a truck 12k will get you. Good luck! Your better off to read up on each of them and drive each of them

For 12k you can likely get a base model early 2000's F-350 with the 6.0 powerstroke. It's a pretty solid motor, than again most diesels will run forever if taken care of.

Don't know much about the duramax's or cummins' but it really comes down to whatever you can get a better deal on.

I'd buy a dodge if it were me. Strictly because of the cummins. They really are proven diesel engines.

I have around 12k and need a crew cab. Four door would be a plus but not a must.
Long or short box, that don't matter.

    What's your budget? Crew cab/extended cab/single cab? Long/short box?

    Diesel trucks

I am not sure if this is the proper place but here it goes:

I am in the market for a 3/4 ton truck and do not know what I should be looking for at all really. It is for work if that makes any difference. Any suggestions/tips/info would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Davis
