So with Movember starting this week some friends and I have decided that at the end of the rigorous month of itchiness and unwanted beards, we will go for some straight shaves to celebrate victory. Has anyone here ever gone for a nice barber shop shave and where would you recommend?

Why not just go to the barber shop on main street?
Then you don't have to go to calgary

There was a site that claimed a 320% increase in hits to their site (which sells shaving equipment and straight and safety razors) after the new bond came out. New fad.

I thought it was illegal due to health reasons, unless they use a new blade every time, does that happen? I know there were places that did it without health approval (yikes).

Ya I'm pretty sure theres rules and regs for disinfecting their tools or using all new stuff.

that was the point of my original post. there are only a few places left in town that are licensed to do it (mainly the older middle eastern men). They dont hand out new licenses anymore, so any new younger shops doing it aren't licensed and you're risking whatever quality control they have.

and yes a new blade should be used if its a razor
