Damn, never thought of that but has the potential to be a cash cow.

Arg.. this, insurance companies in the US offering discounts to people who put tracking boxes in cars, no more manual transmissions, driverless cars, etc...

        Re: Taking bets

Ummm, how would a bluetooth ID ever get linked to a vehicle identification/registration/license? What if the system grabs the bluetooth ID off your phone? Or a laptop? Or a headset?

I think for driving on Deerfoot in rushhour, they should just put a default message on the screen. Time to 64th Ave North: FOREVER.

I am pretty sure there will be a camera involved when they go to monetize the system.

            Re: Taking bets

Saw this on the way into work this morning, 21 minutes from deerfoot/anderson to deerfoot/airport trail @ 8:00am. I really like the idea, especially in the winter conditions!

I think we should have a side bet to guess the longest time posted/seen on the sign by a eurodrivers member before christmas. :P

              Re: Taking bets

Just keep your bluetooth turned off unless it's connected to your car/headset and it shouldn't be an issue.

does it pick up non-discoverable devices like the name implies? on most phones i think that is the default setting anything unless you are pairing for the first time, and no way can they figure out which car the actual phone is in

                  Re: Taking bets

Over the past little while i have started to notice a few discrepancies but usually it is fairly accurate. One time the sign said 61 minutes til my turnoff, the next sign a km down the road said 16 minutes.

With that note the highest time i have seen on there is the 61 minutes, and that was definitely an incorrect time, next highest time is 38 minutes.

I'm starting to like the system
