Re: SUV Comparisons
didn't check the MDX
infinity qx60 was prior.. it was decent and had a ton of toys but i was not a fan of the CVT and then online research showed the CVT has a lot of reported issues so no go there
at this point its between the Treg and Q7 so i'll see who can give us the best price and offer and go from there.
FWIW Audi will provide loyalty pricing to you if your an existing driver/customer

Re: SUV Comparisons
i think i have it down between
ml 350, q7 3.0t, treg tdi and maybe the jeep GC summit
mercedes service is probably pretty expensive
audi has prepared service plan included for like 1/2 the services it seems
treg is just that but man they are pricey for a VW
jeep is loaded to the nines but quality vs german is there for sure

Re: SUV Comparisons
well went and tested a 2014 Treg execline Rpackaged TDI.. man what a nice vehicle! very well built. reminded me of german.. nicely appointed. the cluster and nav/media system are really good, TDI motor was great! very quiet like the ML but nice and torquey. ended up doing some pricing and holy F its not cheap
had to cross shop so went to glenmore audi and found a 2015 Q7 with black optics package which looks amazing! few upgrades here/there and you'll **** your pants.. it cost a whopping 2K more than the Treg!!!! so very confused on that piece now
probably a toss up between the Treg and Q7 now for sure.. price/price its a pretty hard one to pass
the VW had a few cool things the Q7 doesn't but the Q7 had cooled seats and the supercharged V6 so no TDI.. i'm sure the TDI will get better mileage vs the V6 for sure..
on a side note VW had the mk7 GTI in which was pretty nice
and audi has the A3 in.. HOLY FRIG that thing is nice!! sat in it.. about the same cabin size as my B5 and the overall car is about the size of a b5.. very impressed with that one.. now to wait for the RS3 to hitLast edited by R_Ethug; 07-19-2014, 09:01 PM.

Yes it will be interesting to see how there're new engine platform performs ( it'll either make or break it I think) and I really want to see the new design, the concepts have been great so hopefully some of that is used !

Re: SUV Comparisons
When we looked for a SUV critia was no domestic and 3rd row seating and not to big for the wife to drive. we really looked at 4runners with the 3rd row the main draw back was storage space with the seats up, MDX RDX some need premium fuel so watch out for that, didn't look at infinity, MB or BMW. Toureg was out no 3rd row so it was either Volvo or Audi , me being half Swede I was a little biased to Volvo over Audi , we got a smoking deal on our Volvo new so that settled it.
48,000 km and nothing major has been wrong with it
pros. great family hauler, awd system kicks ass, good fuel milage and only needs reg., ride quality, minimal road noise, and visabilty for the wife, seats are super comfy on trips, and not a mini van!
cons. Only has inline 6 3.2 na so not a power house ( would be nice with another 50-100 hp) lack of storage in front center console dash area ( phones, change, etc )

Re: SUV Comparisons
My wife has owned a Santa Fe for the past 7 years....no issues at all. Has full leather,AWD, good power (& mileage) and the 3rd row seating. I would say that the 3rd row seating is not for adults as the roof line slopes down so much only kids or very short people could be comfortable there.

Re: SUV Comparisons
Not quite as baller as some of the other suggestions here, but my Wife loves her Santa Fe Sport.. now that they are available with a 3rd row it could fit. Certainly has better fit and finish than I would have expected from Hyundai.

Re: SUV Comparisons
Have you considered the F25 X3 xDrive35i? Not exactly sure what size of a SUV you are looking for.
My parents have one and it has been great to them.
I think they look great stock with some meaty tires

Re: SUV Comparisons
I guess I have a bit more I can contribute here... haha.
My aunt replaced her 2004 XC90 T6 about a year and a half ago. I remember it had one issue early on that turned out to be a recall thing IIRC, but otherwise it was a good car for the ~8 years they owned it. When they were looking to replace it, they were mainly looking at another XC90, the Q7, and the Touareg. She liked them all, but ended up in a new XC60 T6 since she has a bit of a Volvo bias. The main reason for the switch from the XC90 to the XC60 was because the XC90 is only offered with the 3.2 now, and the extra power of the T6 was definitely needed for towing the boat.
Edit: I'll also add that my favourite SUV out there right now is the Q5 3.0 TDI. Audi quality, Quattro, TDI torque, TDI efficiency... what's not to like? That's what will probably replace our CC when the time comes.Last edited by CGY_GTI; 07-10-2014, 08:36 AM.

colin the qx60 was really nice just the CVT was questionable.. reading online the pathfinder has the same CVT and they have a bad shudder issue and people are having TC's replaced to the entire transmission and it breaks again in 2 weeks.. so that turned me off pretty quick

Re: SUV Comparisons
Not sûre on the options you listed.
My dad just recently did the search for an SUV. Although it may be smaller then what you want, the acura rdx is a fantastic buy. I believe he got his for right around 40k, snow tires, roof rails and floor mats included. My only real complaint is the electronic steering, feels very...meh...mind you I am used to driving a car with essentially zero suspension travel.
