Brokerage alone or does that include the border taxes, gst, etc that sometimes accompanies shipping orders? That $60 seems out of line a bit

How not to pay UPS/DHL/Fedex Brokerage fees

Good to know but sometimes it's not worth the time. And time is money.

Why wouldnt you ship to the border and just forget about all this hassle? Im assuming you are in the Lower Mainland no?

It was supposed to be free international "express" shipping, but the shipper cheaped out and used UPS ground, hence the brokerage charges.

The total was $18 in duties and taxes, the other $42 were brokerage fees.

Besides it takes a good 3 hours from where I am to drive across, pickup the stuff and come back, sometimes paying an extra $5 shipping is worth it to skip the time and hassle.

UPS doesn't care about complaints, they can charge you whatever they want since there's no rules.

They broke it down for me once on another parcel, there are a bunch of "extra" fees you need to pay, not just the base fee. I'll call them up and ask them to break it down for me on this parcel too and then post it here.

                LOL

                Have you ever tried?

It's like complaining to a brick wall.

Ethical, logical, economics, whatever your arguments are... they fall on deaf ears.

Doing this today again UPS is still giving people the round about, it's never been easy to get the documents.

Got the Duties paid, cost me $5, UPS wanted $50. Will be waiting for them to deliver it to my door.

What did you have to do to finally get the paperwork?

I called them over and over until they sent it to me. I got a lot of runarounds but at some point when you call them you get someone knows what to do and sends you the documents.

One rep even tried to convince me I had to go to the port in person to pick the documents up, haha.
