Haven't done much for the a4 yet, but I'll share from my r32.

Seems like I did pretty well compared to others. Got a lot if stellar deals.

    I think everything is here....

    Air suspension:
    Bags/struts/tank/compressor: $1700 used
    Management:$700 used

    Wheels:
Cc10's: $450 shipped after the whole water cooled ind f*ck up lol
    Bbs rs reps: $900 shipped

    Rubber:
    Winters: $550 shipped
    Summers: $750 local

    Exterior:
    Roof rack $400

    Interior:
    Headunit: $300
    Little goodies: $200

    Engine:
    Intake: $350
    Exhaust: $700 used

    Maintinence:
Maintinence added up be about $2000 for the short time I owned the car . Oil changes/dsg/Haldex/brakes.

So that makes a total of about $7650 in mods.

    For things I sold:
    Cc10's:$900
    Headunit:$300

Bought the car for $20500 owned it for 10 months or so. Sold it for $25000 with mods excluding a few things here and there.

Car plus mods = about $28150
    Selling the car - $25000
    =$3150 for mods?

made quite a bit back after the sale

    $28150/25000kms= $1.126/km while i owned the car.

$3150 for mods, plus $2000 for maintinence =$5150 not including gas/insurance.
drove the car for about 25000kms
cost per km=$.206/km after the car sale.

I think year/model/engine/fuel type should be included so people have an idea of what type of car. My tdi will cost more up front and have maintenence costs close to a gasser, but I will get way better fuel economy.

    2000 Jetta Tdi

130,000 kms since purchase (430,000 km on odometer)
    Paid $7000 7 years ago
1 set of winter tires, never changed the summers that came with it

Average $500 in parts a year, probably less but I don't have absolute numbers. This included a full suspension refresh and new springs and shocks/struts. 2 timing belts, head gasket, all the wheel bearings atleast once, maf, and a bunch of small things. I did all the work except the one alignment after the suspension refresh.

Mods, most of them installed in the first 30,000 km's

    Turbo
    Racepipe
    Injectors
    Clutch + flywheel
    Ecu
    FMIC with custom piping
    2.5 Down pipe
    Sway bar
    $4600 approx for all that

    1000 km's per tank, 50L average fill

I will do the math later, but the car has done me well.

I've spent somewhere around 21 grand. Cost of the car is less then half of total costs.
Most mods were bought used. Cost does not include gas or insurance.

    21 000$/ 30 000 km = 0.70$/km

This is over two years, with more then half the time being taken apart.

Total cost is around 30 000 with gas and insurance.

So since I have an app where I keep everything...
Bought Heidi in February of 2010...These values are since then.

    Purchase Price: $14,000.00

    Fuel Cost: $20,136.92 = $0.153/km

Expenses (Non Maintenance with Cost of Car): $18,030.00 = $0.138/km
    Insurance: $5712.30 = $0.034/km
    Service/Maintenance: $14,448.09 = $0.105/km

    Total w/o Insurance or Gas: $32.478.09 = $0.243/km

    Total Cost: $52,615.01 = $0.396/km

Yeah but it looks so good man And you're half my cost/km! haha

Thankfully ill be tossing on another 3500km next week to bring that cost/km down! lol

Which man it drops it a lot - additional 4000km will bring it down to $0.85/km Guess the first year is probably the most expensive, with mods and purchase price lol.

    Yay for participating!

I was afraid of this... lol

I know full well the money I eventually spend on my cars is way more than it should be, but its my hobby and what i get enjoyment out of so to me the costs are worth it lol. Not to say you guys don't agree, but I don't get into a panic over what I have spent. That being sad I have only had this car for 6 months now haha.

I am in the same boat as Patryk (retired accountant too) and I usually do not keep track of my car spending to save the panic it may cause. As I have not owned a car for a couple years now I have probably saved a bundle, but I used to buy a brand new car, get wheels, tires and suspension before it even arrived and with very minimal mileage my costs were probably pretty amazing.
