  • Formula 1 2017 Thread

Continuing the tradition of some of us talking about F1, let's get into it for the new season as we have many changes coming this year; new cars, new owners, no more Bernie, no more Nico, Ross Brawn back and lots more.

Does anyone think Mercedes will be challenged this year?

    Yes.

I'm looking forward to 2017 a lot more than in past years. Hopefully the car changes will be an improvement (fingers crossed). If nothing else... they'll look a lot more bad-ass going around the track. Concerned that the handling though might be a little "too good" making most of the current "corners" effectively straights.

Team changes are also going to be interesting to watch. Looking forward to seeing how Bottas will do at Mercedes and if Verstappen can continue to impress at Red Bull. Super stoked about the Canadian Stroll and hope he does well. Also hoping that Stoffel can bring it at McLaren and that Hulkenberg has a good year at Renault.

Finally, I'm most excited about the Liberty takeover. Not so much as for this year... but for the changes that are to come. Rumours of more races coming to North America have already been flying and I for one would buy a ticket to the Las Vegas GP today if that happens. Also interested in doing a Miami and NYC GP which are also rumoured.

Curious to hear what others think about the 2017 season as well? One of these days we have to do a ED F1 GP trip!

I was originally trying to go to the Chinese GP this year, but with the date swap with Bahrain it did not work with my friends schedules anymore so alas still no GP for me.

I am hoping Ferrari will challenge this year...

With how good Newey can design a car I know Red Bull will be a tough team and will give Mercedes a run for their money in 2017.

Glad Bernie is out and the Liberty takeover is happening. Brawn back in F1 is huge!

I hope Hulkenberg's move to Renault work out for him (has been one of my favorite drivers for a while now, good quality driver just needs better luck).

Im happy to see a Canadian back on the grid this year, but I think it will be a mediocre year for Stroll, too much of daddys money got him the seat at Williams (Massa coming out of his short retirement will be better mentor for him rather than Bottas tho.)

Bottas to Mercedes is a huge step from the Williams cars he has been driving the past years (fast car but not a great handling car)

Im pretty pumped. Can't wait for the race. Who are your favourites/ dark horses for the upcoming season?

Bottas is my dark horse favourite. McLaren will implode and I'd like to see Toro Rosso (Minardi) make some gains.
