Nothing gets past you! I missed April Fools Day so thought I'd post a belated AFD thread

My mom's neighbour backed in to the car on Saturday when it was parked in front of her house and crushed the fender into the top of the tire. I managed to yank it out at the scene so it was drivable but was rubbing like hell. Fortunately Derek lives super close by and offered to help me pound out the fender a bit more so it cleared the tire (he's not just good looking - he is very handy, too!)

Here's what the damage looked like right after the guy backed into it:

I thought I might have to call a flatbed to haul the car away as the sheet metal was jammed so far in and tightly against the tire, but I managed to yank it out just far enough to drive on (but with a hell of a lot of rubbing):

After filing a police report and sending all the info to my insurance company, I prescribed myself 750ml of Cabernet Sauvignon and called it a night. The next morning I drove over to Derek's and he gently "massaged" the fender out with a mallet while Rob and I stood around supervising.

Once the massage was over the fender was out far enough to clear the tire and while it's still obviously in need of proper repair, Derek did a damn fine job wielding that mallet! (Thanks again Derek - I owe you a case of beer!)

    The finished result:

My insurance company is sending an adjuster out in the next couple of days so should hopefully get the car into Maranello's soon and she'll be good as new!

But for anyone who needs some cost-effective, short-term body work done, I highly recommend Derek Niers Auto Body (they even serve you drinks while you wait!) 5-stars!

Chris, I recall an owner from BC tackled this on his Daytona Grey, I think it was on Audizine.

Weekend RS4 Project: Super Wide Body!

Thought I’d start a thread for a little weekend project that I have been contemplating for a while now.

I love the flared fenders on the RS4 but always thought that Audi should have made them just a little bit wider. I’ve been scouring the internet, talking to other car enthusiasts, and doing a ton of research about the best way to approach this little project, and today (with a little help from Derek), we started making some progress.

We only got the one side done today, but going to tackle the other one next weekend. I’ll keep this thread updated as things progress!

    Getting Prepped:

Derek demonstrating his mad wide-body-hammering skillz:

Pretty pleased with the results so far! Still need to do a little finessing next weekend before we start on the other side, but it's on its way!

Working...
