Any Mk3's running small wheels?

Well since I know there are a few MK3 fans on here, I was wondering, Do mark 3ers run small wheels? I was looking around a bit and found some good deals on old skool 14" and 15" wheels. Do you think that would look good or terrible? Obviously it would be low to compensate for the wheel gap.

Well it is all going to depend on the MK3 that you have, if it is a VR6 then 15 is the smallest you can run as they just clear the brakes. Also a lot of the old school wheels are in 4x100 pattern which is also a non VR6 item. So it is all going to depend on what car you are going with, but 14 and 15s can look hot but you need to be super slammed!!!

Well it wont be on a VR6, more like a 1.8 (4x100). So I just thought it would look cool to go with like a 14" old school wheel, may as well try to look cool since it'll be gutless. I'm just checking out my options.

Well then you will have a lot of options with the 1.8 and 4x100. It is not easy to find many MK3s on 14s but some on 15s, but you will need them to be wide and very very low to make the look work.

Cool, thanks blair. I like the first ones (can't remember what they are called anymore). I guess I'd prolly need dish too. I actually thought some P slots would look good but they don't have any lip to them. The suspension would have to come first though. I'm just trying to see if I could live with a 1.8 car but I think I could have fun with it. I can sure live with the price!

I'm taking it out for a couple hours tonight so I will make my decision then. At least it's a 2 door.

Haha, yea it would be all about the look. I was looking at "JOM" coilovers because they are dirt cheap, I think I'll stay away from the bags as they can mess up your frame.

Heh, thanks guys. Looks like i'm picking it up Saturday or monday unless the inspection finds something major wrong with it.

Well it was a good deal, so I told him I'll for sure take it unless something major comes out of the inspection (happening on Saturday). So it's good mechanically but the body is a little rough (part of the reason it was a good deal). So, it's a '96 Golf CL 2 door - Black. I need to address a bit of rust on the drivers door and some spots on the roof where it's had some rock chips or something. The next thing I need to do is fix up the front end, It needs a front grill and it's missing the dummy plates and what not, and the paint on the bumper is a rough.

I basically got it for the mechanical aspect, and it drives pretty good so hopefully can find some good deals on a grill and maybe even a front bumper. I've looked around on CVD and VWDOV for some stuff but havent found too much...yet.

I think it'll be cool and fun to work on. And now we can get our house!

So for sure, post up your ideas, i'm gonna be on a extreme budget though, unless I can find stuff for cheap. Because i'm joining the ranks of you guys looking at blinds and paint and furniture and lawnmowers!
