10 Things I learned today about working with Fiberglass Resin.

1. Wear gloves.
2. If it starts to harden before you finish, you're boned.
3. If you use too much hardening agent, you're boned.
4. If you use too little hardening agent, you're boned.
5. Wear gloves.
6. You can and will get high off the fumes.
7. The chemical reaction that hardens the resin creates a lot of heat.
8. Too much heat can burn things.
9. Too much heat can melt things.
10. Don't use Fiberglass Resin.

WTF were you making? I tried repairing a Rieger sideskirt with fiberglass once..... It wasn't pretty

Thats between me and the pieces I ruined.

Edit: Nothing to do with my earlier post about shifting. I wouldn't use resin for that anyhow.

What type of Resin where you using? The best way to ahndle it is mix it in small batches in an icecream type container. That and follow the mixing insturctions to the T, I never measured mine and all but one batch turned out fine (you will only under est. hardener once )

Never had problems with resin in small amounts....So basically do things in steps...I out together my whole beretta GTZ bumper after an incident turned it into about 6 pieces, and it was seamless and strong.....I agree, wear gloves, and maybe a painting respirator would be good.....Long sleeves too, you don't want the strengthening matting on your skin......You did use the matting, right??

Well I wasn't using it to repair a bumper, so I was not using matting. There would have been no way to use matting with what I was doing.
