Roads...

Okay well I didn't exactly leave my place a whole lot on the holidays other than to go to crowfoot which isn't really that far away.. but this morning driving to work the roads were absolute garbage. There were 2 different cars spun out and smashed into the barrier on crowchild by the university almost causing a 50 car pile up. 16th ave was a big skating rink and a big ass bus was braking like 1 block up from me and started turning sideways!! and somehow didn't cause an accident. Downtown the roads are crap to.
I know its the holidays and all but I woulda thought the city would of had them plowed or sanded at least. Oh well good thing I'm in the beater.

Yesterday I did a 360 on the glenmore crowchild bridge. Very scary indeed. I was downtown today and the roads were extremely nasty. Any speed past 80km/h on crowchild = death.

On my way to work there was a nice accidnet on glenmore and another right at chinook. CFCN was even doing some filming at the first accident for some reason too. The raods where pure ice I could spin the tires in 4th!

City employees don't get holidays! They have been plowing and sanding, but it makes little difference when non of it can bite into the ice (hence salt aswell, but becomes useless between -5 and -10).....

I drifted 90 degrees sideways on deerfoot once Glad I was the only person on the road, scared the bejezus outta me. I definitely drive slow in winter now!

give'er fellas! as long as you are going straight, without any sudden changes like braking or steering, no matter what the surface, you are ok! ahah

when it snowed new years and i was on my way home there were a few inches of fresh snow, on the roads. people were scared to drive down those, and made their own lanes, so everyone stuck to those.

the very left lane of deerfoot was very fresh, omg, i ripped down that lane, i looked like a rocket from a distance, kicking up all this snow, it was great.

I do a daily comute downtown then along Deerfoot - I've been fine with my stock all-seasons because I actually slow down.

I don't know how you could be going over the speed limit on ice roads and still act surprised when you lose control.

OMG i left the office at 130 today.. (yea thats right i'm a slacker lol)

there were 2 accidents on memorial not more than 1/2km apart nice 3 car ones with cops..

then coming back on crowchild some woman up by dalhouse went from the fast lane did a 720 all the way across into the ditch on the slow lane!! i don't know how she didn't kill someone and everyone just drove past her lol

then up by nosehill there were 2 accidents involving 4 cars that were honestly 100ft apart!!!

right now the roads seem to be pavement but beware its solid black ice..

and alex i think the road guys must get holidays if crowchild and 16th aren't even sanded!! gimme a break yo!

Well I did not have much trouble this morning or over the weekend but things are definitely slick in areas. I have been taking it nice and easy though as I dont want to risk anything, plus I have had a bit of speeding ticket trouble lately I think the biggest problem is not the city crews, as I have seen lots out but it has snowed a bit almost everyday for a week making it hard to battle the conditions. Take it easy and drvie safe!

Hey, you think you got it bad come on down to the windy city, i was in calgary for newyears and thought the roads we're kinda good. So drive an hour and a half south and see what crappy services we have from the city

LOL dude don't get me started.. i was out at my parents for christmas which is like 30 minutes west of reddeer and i went into reddeer on boxing day and it snowed seriously 1foot christmas night.. well red deer has this moto.. we don't plow the vehicles can clear the roads themselves..
every road was covered! but the only good thing about this is.. the people there actually know how to winter drive and I didn't see an accident all day.

Common sense+winter tires=saving my a$$ the last couple days. Roads are def' scary right now. Saw a couple close calls today involving...you guessed it, nob-heads in trucks/suvs that were going way too fast for the conditions.

Hey, anyone see the accident on country hills blvd just east of beddington on or around the bridge? Had country hills' east bound bunged up pretty good.

We had frezzing rain all weekend i couldn't even make it out of my drive way till noon or so today when i called some one from the hwy dept to come salt and sand the drive its been just as crappy down here and no one knows how to drive on it
