XBox Mod Chip: Which one and where to buy?

I think it's finally time to mod my XBox, seeing as I never use it. Which is the best chip to use and where can I get it? I'd like to get one in Calgary if I can, and one with the easiest installation possible.

Any ideas?

i have evolutionX and i enjoy it. havent tried anythine else so i dont know if its good/bad.

well depending on what version of xbox you have bill but i have the xecutor 2.6 and it does everything i need it was like 45 bucks and brent installed it for me and setup the bios on it.. easy as pie.. also recommended is a 100+gig HD if you like to play games,etc or want to put a bunch of divx,etc to watch on it..

Yep, xecuter with a big HDD, I have a 120 in mine, woulda gone bigger.....

Does the xecuter require soldering? Is it easy to install? Where did you get it from?

I've read about heat problems when installing a new hard drive... did you guys experience any problems?

PS: I have a Ver 1.0 XBox. Got it on the day they were released.

yea bill get the xecutor 2.6 it will work for you.. soldering is needed but brent can do it for you for probably free and he's a pro or even lomas can do it so.. heat isn't an issue for me.. i have a 200gig in mine and its been fine

I got the Xenium Ice with no soldering needed. Works fine. The xbox media center lets me stream **** off the PC so I'm ok for HD space (I think I have a 120 in there).

The executor ones are really nice, I only charge about $20-40 for install depending on if you bring me beer or not Doing a HDD install takes a bit longer but it is worth it. I think it was a Duo X2 that I put in Ales xbox and they are a great little cheap chip if you don't want all the bells and wistles.

umm there is a place in calgary here that sells modchips www.toka.ca i got mine from them.. you cannot pick it up locally but it takes 1 day to come in the mail so no biggie..

I can get you in touch with someone who will have it done the same day for you, and load up the drive with all the latest. I have taken about 7 machines to him. PM me if you are interested. Mine has been modded since xecuter 2.6 was out, I did it myself and put in a 250GB. PITA would definately pay someone 40 bux to have it done if I were to do it again.

$40 to $200 (if you want every bell and whistle) plus whatever deal you get on a HDD (about $100 for a 160gig or something).
