Heh I don't know either, if you plan on going to the dealership I am sure you can make them understand what you mean... maybe Volkstech will respondKR

Re: gear oil
I flushed mine after 3 years and put in the GM syncromesh, and that was after teaching my wife to drive stick, and several grinds. A bit smoother, but not earth shattering. I'd wait at least a year then flush it to give any other particles or burs a chance to flake off.

Re: gear oil
Yes, or just call it gearbox oil (there are lots of gears in a car). The syncromesh is by penzoil, but is relabeled GM or AC Delco and can be bought at any GM dealership. Search vortex/this forum for syncromesh if you want details.

Re: gear oil
the GM syncromesh is amazing stuff. we put it into our rabbit with a VW motorsports tranny and the grinding was solved. the stock oil that came in it i think was slightly too thingTeam Highschool

Re: gear oil
Your best bet is wherever you take it, just go buy it and have it put in, be it the dealership, independant mechanic etc.Originally posted by forrealbut if i want that penzoil syncromesh stuff, and take my car to a VW dealership will they have that stuff there if i ask for it? or will i have to take it to a local mechanic shop or something?Jay
