Have a quick question for the gamers here: A friend of mine has a hookup that will allow him to buy a number of PS3's during their release on Thursday night. I'm not too familiar with the situation with Sony, so was wondering if it would be worth it to buy a few units to re-sell on ebay or something? I'm just thinking back to what happened with the Xbox 360 and the ridiculous prices that ensued after release

Definetly a good idea, they always go huge on ebay upon release.

I heard people have sold their pre-orders on ebay for over $2500 american. So YES take as many as you can!

yea they are out in japan and going on ebay for like 4000US i've read..

Holy balls! I heard that Sony learned a lesson from the Xbox release and would have ample inventory available for North America. But I guess that's not the case Guess, I'll be scraping some funds together for Thursday to scoop up a few units!

I did hear a rumour that ebay was going to be trying to crack down on this activity. I'm not sure why or how, but that's what I heard.

I think that they were cracking down on people selling their pre-order, because even a pre-order doesn't guarantee one now I seem to recall hearing; or something like that. Has to do with, you guessed it, not nearly enough stock for the NA release. This could all be BS though, so take it with a grain of salt.

All that I could find on the subject is that Sony will prosecute people in Europe for importing units and re-selling them before the European release date in March.

I don't think there's anything that can be done about cracking down on the eBay thing in North America.

Definetly not if you actually have the units, I think the only concern was people who were selling their pre-buy rights or something like that.

Man I am out of the loop, I knew Ryan was getting some play time but someone will actually marry that guy
The PS3 launch is going to be a bust, they sold more units then games in Japan on opening day lol They have nowhere near the units they need to even supoply pre orders. If you can get your hands on a couple units ebay those suckers and laugh all the way to the bank.

Did you guys hear about the guy in the states that dropped off Bums at various locations to stand in line for these things? Just hearing it on the radio right now.....
