Calgary now has 94-Octane!!!

I just called Customer service for Husky/Mohawk and that station is the only one in Calgary and Edmonton.... thye said it was a pilot program to see how much people buy... so if we want to keep it buy the stuff... Maybe it weill be in Edmonton Soon!!!

The ECU will compensate by pulling the timing once it hears knock from the lower octane fuel. On cars that are running stock boost levels, the change in timing will be very little, if at all simply because they should be getting close to full iginition timing anyways. This also means that cars running stock boost will gain very little power from running 94 vs 92 octane.

On cars running higher boost, there will be a larger change in timing, but still manageable by the ECU. In my old car ( DSM ), when going from VP103 unleaded to premium pump gas, I would reset my ECU because the change in timing was so large that when I stepped on it after putting the lower octane gas in, the car would buck like hitting harsh fuel cut. So to prevent that from happening, I reset the ECU and problem solved.

Nope... Alien is right. The extra octane is obtained by upping the ethanol content in the gasoline. If you look closely at the pictures at the start of the thread, you can see that the 94 octane says "10% ethanol blended w/deposit control additives" whereas the 92 octane says " may contain up to ...". It is the ethanol that provides the extra knock resistance. It's also more costly to add ethanol, which is why Mohawk dropped the octane level from 94 to 92 in the first place (this was about 2.5 to 3 years ago).

Nope. This Mohawk is the only one in the city. It's well worth the drive!

Thats fairly close to me. I'll try a fill'o'94 and see what it'll do for my ride. Dont expect a big difference if any, but if its the same price as 91 octane, why not?

Got some 'o the good stuff myself today. Went in basically empty (less than 2l in the tank) and got the guy to fill it up. I noticed it pulled a little stronger even with stock components. Can't wait to get stuff done and run with 94. I was impressed. Hope this catches on and they do well with it so they can expand their locations.

I was talking to the cashier and she said that there have been tons of nice cars coming in to fill up. So it looks like other circles have got wind of this and are supporting it.:thumbsup:
