Re: New Brakes?
That's true about how they'll usually jack you on the price, but seeing as how the history between the owner of the shop and my father is extensive I'm not too sure if he did. I also saw the calipers.

Re: New Brakes?
Calipers are expensive.
Often brake places rip people off and tell you your brakes are shot when they're not... at least I've heard of lots of incidents.

Re: New Brakes?
Well on that car I needed to get the rear rotors, calipers, and pads changed. Some how my rear brakes managed to get seized together and got royally fucked. I could carer less though, it was basically a lesson to be learned about taking care of a vehicle.
Stings at first but it stays with you.

You got ripped off dude, or paid a lot of labour costs.Originally posted by MusicalGenius View PostOnly $400? Damn, I'd jump for that if it was me. Seeing as how when I got my brakes done on my last car it ran me nearly a grand.
Rotors on ebay will run you $150 for all four corners.
4 Hawk pads will run you $90 USD
That would be a great combo for under $250.Last edited by Kor; 08-21-2007, 10:12 AM.

Re: New Brakes?
Well so far i cant find to many good deals on the net. They seem to be all close to the same price range of what i got quoted here.
Concept1 quoted me 4 brembo rotors and performance pads for 400. Is that decent or not?

Re: New Brakes?
i've got a set of rear drilled mk4 rotors. you can have 'em cheap and i've got a caliper tool that could help you out as well.

Re: New Brakes?
Best deal on Rotors (and probably pads) is to buy them online.
Ebay has crazy cheap genuine Brembo rotors sometimes. I remember C-Town bought Brembo rotors from ebay one time for like $25 each or something like that? Long time ago. But I am sure he paid 1/3 what most shops charge for all 4 rotors.
Then I'd get my pads at a reputable VW tuning shop.
RPI Equipped has a repuation for brake components and they have a Canadian shop. But maybe a lil' expensive?

New Brakes?
Hey guys,
On my new jetta, the brakes need replacing. All 4 rotors and pads. Where is a good place in town to buy the parts? I dont want cheap ones, but im not looking for crazy expensive ones either. I will be installing myself.
