    Re: New city jetta

Both the 2008 City Jetta and Golf have gotten the Brazil refresh, which kind of makes them look a little odd, but it will distinguish them from regular MK4s now. The City program is something VW does in several markets to offer reliable products at a good price, look at a Citi Golf in South Africa it is still a MK1!

I recently helped my Mother-In-Law get a 2007 City Jetta and I think for the money it is a good car with lots of options and size.

/\/\he will sell you a city jetta, and not a jetta. which is what you'd be asking for. otherwise, you'd be an uninformed consumer. they could call it entry jetta, quasimoto jetta, jettina, jetta light, jetter, 'lil jetta, cheap rattle box, CJ, re-jetta, doesn't really matter to me. it's one or the other. but i will agree it's wierd. i always hated mk4 jetta lights.

^^ why not name it JETTA FURY 2 or something like that...What if you go to the dealer and you tell the sales person, i wanna buy a City Jetta....which one does he think you mean?!

I agree with redmile on the name change.

It's not really a new line, it is a cross platform car of the same parts from the new and the old platforms....hence no change in the name.

Can someone explain the marketing concept behind this car. I understand that vw is trying to have a cheaper entry level car and all, but why keep basically the same name as another vechile in the line up? Why not call this car/ their entry level car, something completly different from the jetta/rabbit line? Again I understand it is based off the mk4 model and all, but really is there any other car manufacture that has the same name for 2 completely different lines of cars?

Im not ranting or anything, Im asking a serious question as to why they marketed it this way?

    New city jetta

I was at SSFC the other day when i saw the new City jetta pull out of the shop.

New front grill looks good, i did'nt really take a super good look at any thing else. For the price a good car in my books.
Working...
