  • VW Importation... Couple of Questions

I know there is plenty of info about importing US cars and I have a pretty good handle on that process.

I am thinking about bringing in a 2008 Passat Wagon for the wife in the near future. What I can't seem to answer is the warantee info.

Will the factory waranty on a 2008 Passat be valid in Canada? What about CPO waranties?

Also, does anyone know the duty on vehicles made in Germany.

    Any info would be helpful.

I think 2008 warranties are ok and 2009 are not, not sure on the CPO but should be ok. I think the duty is around 6.1%

Odd....I called VW and they said CPO in the U.S. would also be honoured here.

FYI. I've read something online about Passat's manufactured after September 2007 may have an immobilizer issue or something like that? Maybe worth looking into.

P.S. Yes, the duty is 6.1%.
