  • ABA not starting after swap??

So ive got a 98 Jetta, that had a 2.0 ABA swapped back into it.
    3G's old car.

Is there anything special that has to be done to get this thing started?

    Its cranking, but not firing.
    Its getting spark/fuel.

Ive been putting missing parts back onto this for about a week now, only things i havent hooked up yet is the throttle cable, fuel carbon canister??, i think i have everything i need.

    If it helps ive already added the following;
    -New Battery
    -spark plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor
    -new injector o-ring seals

I will probably figure it out eventually, but figured some of you might have had some experience with this stuff. Thanks.

Here's a dumb question.. After you installed the distributor did you time it correctly?

if it has spark and fuel it has to start unless there is a timing issue.
timing belt on correctly and are the wires in a correct firing order?

I pulled off the timing cover and the marks dont line up, also pulled the distributor cap off and noticed the rotor doesnt match the index either.

So ill have to fix it tomorrow and hopefully it starts.

it's obd2 who cares about the distributor it runs even unpluged.
so it gang fires instead of sequential but it would still start.(as long as the firing order is correct)
it was my timing belt answer..

Re: ABA not starting after swap??

                  The timing was all fine.
The first time i looked at it i didnt turn the motor over, to align the marks.

The car starts but runs terrible as if it was only 2 cylinders or something, and doesnt respond to throttle.

Im pretty sure it has to do with the fact that i dont have all the gas evap canister, fuel pressure valve (that blue thing), hooked up.

I have 3 fuel hoses just hanging in the passenger side of the bay.
-Yellow clear one, between the 2 fuel lines beside the strut tower.
-Black thick rubber hose in the pass. fender
-Black plastic ribbed looking tube also pass.fender
