My dad used to drive with a real Texas plate (on the front) that he bought at an antique store when he was down there.

It kinda looked like a SASK plate because it was green and white. He never had any problems, but it was on a minivan.

Not only that, but dont places like alberta registries sell souvenier plate like "gone fishing" or whatever else? If it was illegal, I would think a government agency would not sell it.

no vanity are fine.. i'm not 100% on the actual law but for the amount you see i don't see any issue... especially since we dont' need govt issued front plates here

you see people rock dealership front plates, ducks unlimited, my gun is my chariot, i heart beef, whatever

if however you were rocking a sask front plate and an AB rear..then you deserve to get into trouble..

i deal with them every week between the hobos,bums and junkies.
They have high stress and zero tolerance to B.S.
DO NAUGHT POKE THE BEAR.
And by the way it is illegal to post 2 diffrent license plates on your car!! fake or not.
So if you find the right guy on the right day,i hope it works out for ya..

Are you sure its illegal if the plates are from two different origins? aka a Alberta and a Europlate? I don't think their case would hold any water.

lol...my goodness this makes me laugh hahahahaha. My front plate says DEZLBEAST and I have never been pulled over here. Although, I did get pulled over in Ontario when I was visiting there and the cop talked to me for 10 minutes about me having a Europlate. They really do need to restock those Tim Hortons better for them.

I've had phonecalls at home about the license plate on my bike being "improperly mounted".....Tells me to fix it as he's coming by the house in a few days....I said yah whatever....never heard from him.....Says I pssed him on stony, but I know for a fact that we didn't see a cop that day anywhere (he also phoned my buddy at home for the same thing).....some of them are just like that....

Ridiculous is a under statement ! If I were to have a RCMP plate or some kind of plate advocating police service, do you think this would have occured ? We all have our views toward this terrific time consuming police work , which in my opinion is . Perhaps desk duty would benneficial.

The MKV R32 is a vehicle brought over from Europe, you can bring in a foreign car and drive it here for 6 months with out switching registration, however if you do not remove the car from the country after the 6 months it can be confiscated and destroyed.

As for a front euro plate on an Alberta car it could be technically an issue but there are numerous cars out there running them, so in my opinion you are just a classic victim of age discrimination that seems to be a big thing with the police in this town, the guy who is 45 driving his Benz with a Euro plate on it never gets hassled but try being a young kid!

There are a handful though - like the UK R32 with UK plates. Also, touring vehicles and bikes come through on an occasional basis.

K, what is the story behind this car. The other day I was driving along saw a sweet looking MkV saw it had a Europlate on the front. Then as it drove past I just checked over my shoulder and noticed it just has a europlate on the back.

I was confused and wasn't sure if I actually saw it.

Isn't your plate resting against the inside of your windshield and a-pillar and not actually mounted to the front of your car?

they cant do anything useful, but they can waste a pile of your time. i'm sure he knows if you were willing to argue, you'd get out of any charges, but he's willing to try waste enough of your time in hopes that you take the plate off on your own. A different plate is not legal, but a euro plate is, as mentioned, as close to a North American plate as any GMC, Calgary Flames, etc.. plate out there. Kinda dumb.

Does seem like the cop is being a little over caring in this case.
Technically what your doing is the same as having a different alberta plate on the front to the back. This could be misleading. I agree that they are being a bit over the top about it though.
Of course - there are not many european plated cars driving around AB.
