FYI for anyone doing this with the switch I listed - the switch comes with 3 wires (normally open, normally closed, and common), the original switch only has 2 wires (normally open and common).
Connect the existing red wire (common) to new black wire and the other existing wire to the new white wire.

so after 3 attempts and removal of door panel I finally got it to stay in place while I pushed the cylinder back in. When tightening it back up it all seems secure but the bolt was very hard to turn in so I doubt I can pull it out again if I had to do this repair a 2nd time.







Maybe I should stock them for everyone or something.
