Bentley 2007 GTC

I know this is the VW page, but really the GTC is pretty much a Phaeton. So, the question is this, should i get the extended warranty? I got the 2007 and its going to cost 10K for another 2 years, BUt it only covers the major drive train and engine.

Please, I realize the stigma that there "oh he can afford a Bentley, he can afford 10K", but still who wants to throw their money away?

I would better safe than sorry,
If something goes major wrong in the next two years im sure it would cost much more than 10k

As said I am sure a major issue with a Bentley is probably some serious coin so could save you money, but always a risk either way.

There is a curve used on warranties called a bathtub curve, where 90% of the major problems happen in the base warranty of a product and 10% happen in the extended. So in all reality there is a significantly smaller chance that you will have a major problem during the extended warranty period compared to the base warranty. A lot of companies offer extended warranties to recover the cost of repairs during the factory warranty stage, but there is always the chance of it happening. Problems during the extended stage of a warranty are less common but more expensive. I would personally do it because the costs on a Bentley are much higher than the average car and I would think a few small repairs could easily become more than $10K.

i was raised by an insurance salesman. better safe than sorry. but definitely check for a deductible. im from vancouver, lots more bentleys here. definitely not cheap at all to spend even 10 minutes in the shop. i thought audi was bad.

well if your already spending 130,000+ a less than 10% investment for 2 years might be worth it.

Yeah dude, I would get the extra warranty. You never know what could happen. Someone that works at the Bentley dealershit in the automall said its 5g's just to replace the windshield on a GT. Just imagine the transmission!

not sure i would ever risk anything like that. 10k is small fish, to be honest, compared to the price of the car - not to mention the cost of repairs. throw in some research and see what turns up.

I don't know if this is any help but I spoke to my sister about her 2007 Continental. As far as im aware she has not taken an extended warranty. We've had no problems so far with the vehicle.

well, I spoke to a friend who knows the service manager and in his experience there hasn't been anyone that has been able to use the warranty to its full value.

But I also share the sentiment that peace of mind is hard to argue with. So, it's a go with the warranty. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Only have a iPhone picture from pickup, with the 19" winters - got the GT off someone privately.

Just realized that I typed GTC instead of GT in the heading of this post - its the GT not the convertible...

Exactly my thoughts. Either way, it's a gamble. Some people are risk-adverse whilst others are risk-takers. It's a personal decision.

Piece-of-mind does have its price though. It really comes down to how negatively a massive fail (ie. warranty issue) will affect you? For me: Life Insurance - Check, Home Insurance - Check, Car Insurance - Check, Employment Insurance - Double-check, Extended Warranties - Pass.
