Re: First Under Hood Mods?
Anyone had experience with Tunedub in calgary? I guess the use unitronic chipping. Any better options for chipping in calgary or red deer? Also to touch back on the exaust stuff, withing attaching a straight pipe whats involved? O2 sensors, anything used from it to feed? or is it straight up pipe from turbo back?Last edited by CGDoig; 06-30-2010, 04:22 PM.

Re: First Under Hood Mods?
I'm not sure if the sensors are different for tdi's, i'll let someone else touch on that in case I give you wrong info. Other than that, just go to an exhaust shop and they will be able to give you a quote on making a downpipe, a testpipe (if you want to delete your cat), and a catback. Lots of people say 3" is overkill, you'd be fine with a 2.5", just depends on how loud you want it to be. I like me some loud tdi's.Originally posted by CGDoig View PostAnyone had experience with Tunedub in calgary? I guess the use unitronic chipping. incorrectOriginally posted by Stonewall View PostSoftware in some mid sized injectors is where you want to start and likely where you will stay otherwise you are into the new turbo type zone. Changing the exhaust will not get you much in the way of gains at all. Some even say you loose power due to less back pressure on the turbo (remember they are VNT).
all cars do not requre back pressure . this is why no race cars have muffled systems , even a 1.6 l v tech honda was proven to bennifit the entire power range by removing the exhaust at the down pipe . so yes the vnt loves big exhaust
i would start with nozzles and chip . then exhaust and turbo . you will love the powersigpic

That info is just what I have heard over the years from people doing various tests. My bet is every situation if different but in the end not worth the money.Originally posted by turbomeyers View Postincorrect

Re: First Under Hood Mods?
Reading more on the exhaust system. Seems that a straight pipe and even high flow will trip the o2 and cause the CEL to come on intermittently with a code. Might not do that, just for the car to sound louder for 500 bucks probably isn't worth it.Last edited by CGDoig; 07-02-2010, 06:01 AM.

Re: First Under Hood Mods?
High flow won't give you a cel, I have one and haven't had a problem at all. Even if you straight pipe it, there is a few simple fixes to negate that cel.Originally posted by CGDoig View PostReading more on the exhaust system.
