  • Custon Dump Switch

So i have finally decided to put a custom window switch in for my exhaust dump. However I am having some difficulties.

This is the switch Im using

Ive looked everywhere for a diagram on which wire is which, but was not successful. So i did the trial and error approach for hours, with no avail.

Here is a photo of the wires.

The issue is, that i need a positive 12v coming from the switch when i hold it in on direction; and a negative 12v when held in the other direction. I was able to get both directions to send a positive 12v, but thats it.

I have the same type of switch for my sunroof motor, but the switch goes to 2 relays in a rats nest of wires. Here is a photo of that.

Now my question is; can i avoid having to run the switch through 2 relays like the sunroof switch, or am i going to have to replicate what has been done there.

    Thanks.

    Sorry for shitty iphone pics.

sorry i couldn't answer your q earlier on the phone.

the problem is the switch doesn't have dual contacts to handle both polarites. the switch in your car connects to relays, one for each polarity. you would need a different switch that has two contacts. most window switches do, that one doesn't.

sorry to be this way, but you're an inexperienced hack with nothing behind your belt to have an opinion.... so the words "shut up" apply here.

                  ready? shut up bye!

I could say it looks like $hit too but it likely works fine. Ohh and yes I do know better but really don't care.

                            cared enough to type

*disclaimer: the word "you" in the rest of my response refers to anyone on this board who feels the need to challenge me behind their little cr4p computer and slow little internet connection and NOT speaking up when they meet me in person. this, and all advice and assistance i volunteer is initially meant as a friendly gesture. responses like this are triggered by pathetic ignorant attempts to criticize something i had done. and all that does is fuel me to be better so f u. i don't think i'm amazing or anything..., i type something if i'm confident in my response and feel that it will help someone.

first, before any of you wanna-be keyboard racers decide to attempt to type something you are clearly not educated or experienced enough to even accomplish... let me tell you what i had to start with:

                            1) the requirement was the window switch needed to switch an output between polarities. the switch was only 2 position by 1 terminal.

                            2) what i had to work with was a collection of "items" that matt had to given me to work with.
                            a) 4 varying model relays with 1 switch capability
                            b) a roll of solid wire, which looked like it fell through time from 1982
                            c) a soldering iron from 1968 with a rusted tip
                            d) a pair of scissors for wire stripping and cutting
                            e) a roll of black and yellow masking tape to mark input source polarity

if you were to present that (what you call) 'hack' to someone qualified to actually provide an opinion (like myself), they would say i did an absolutely wonderful and SAFE job considering what i had to work with.

it would be best to practice shutting the fuk up before i confront and demonstrate (at our next meeting) in public most of your (in general on this board [you know you who are because you'll reply]) lack of educations in this area (and most of what i do electrically and mechanically). we'll be much better off if you would all assume i do the best i can with what i have to work with. seriously, stop challenging me and just accept me.

                            okie? yathanx

i don't bite back. i kick ass back
