  • Recommend me a new Clutch. VW R32 Turbo

    Fellas,
As the title says, I'm thinking my clutch is about to go.
The current clutch is a South Bend Stage 3. Uncertain which specific model of Endurance/Drag/Daily.
My R has a Garrett GT35 Turbo, Peloquin LSD, O2M, with 450awhp/tq, so I'm thinking either a Stage 3 or 4 & George to install.

    Suggestions?
If you're a dealer definitely pop in.

    Thanks
    Cam

Was making close to 300chp but that's because I didn't have rods. I plan on making close to 400 on this clutch when I get a new turbo

I'm not certain. It could be the fork apparently. It's very difficult to shift into 1st & reverse, nay impossible. 2nd & up are difficult too. It slipped under boost in 5th & 6th. I'm driving like an old lady now until I get it sorted.

I'm thinking twin-disc FX 700 to handle the power.

Ugh, at 7 hours shop time.

the throw out bearing is hydraulic and would most likely be the issue since it is in the bell housing and when it goes it pisses brake fluid on the clutch causing it to slip. and makes it difficult to get into gears. how is the clutch pedal feel has it changed?

Put the car into 5th at a low speed, if it slips its your clutch. The fact that your having issues with 1st and reverse worries me

Next time your having problems going into either put it into 3rd first (at a stand still of course) and than put it into either. See if it engages smoother

It just doesn't sound like your clutch. I would expect your slave isn't applying enough pressure and your almost hard shifting into every gear.

get someone to take a look into it before you start grinding and need to rebuild the transmission

George got me. It was the clutch. He insisted to use a SPEC 5(V). No break-in period, but there was certainly some getting used to.
I live downtown and first driving was on god damn 10th ave during rush hour. I must've stalled 10 times.
Anyhoo, I drove it to Revy and just got home. Feels much stronger than the previous South Bend, and still pulls like a raging freight train. God I love my car.

Any advantage to the Spec over the CM? I don't really know much about Spec clutches, but that's no reason not to find out more about them.
