Leaky tranny

Okay so I have a leak in my transmission and it seems as if I am going to have to go to the dealership. Now, I am a very good standard driver, but I do have a C1 Short shift kit. Soo will they give me hassle? Or can somebody swap their pre-2001 shifter with me for a couple days.
