  • Volkswagen Taigun Concept

Lending credibility to previous reports that a crossover smaller than the Tiguan is being planned, Volkswagen has introduced the Taigun concept at the Sao Paulo Motor Show.

Dressed in Seaside Blue, the compact crossover features rugged styling with plastic body cladding, anodized skid plates and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other highlights include a prominent grille, a ventilated hood and bulging fenders. There's also a two-piece tailgate, LED spot lights and hidden rear door handles.

The cabin is relatively sparse but features a clean design with high-contrast trim. Notable items include an infotainment system, dashboard-mounted instrument pods and air vents with integrated climate control knobs. The boot holds 280 liters (9.9 cubic feet) of luggage, but that can be expanded to 987 liters (34.9 cubic feet) when the rear seats are folded down.

Power is provided by a 1.0-liter TSI engine that produces 110 HP (81 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the 985 kg (2172 lb) crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, hit a top speed of 186 km/h (116 mph) and average approximately 4.5 L/100km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 mpg UK).

It looks very LEGO-ish. Inside is boring too.

I thought you just incorrectly spelled Tiguan and was coming in here to let you know that it isn't a concept anymore

I like it, seems like a good candidate for a Calgary runaround with good clearance for winter and the ability to load it up and go camping and have that clearance to go a little farther than you could in a car.

Would like to see it with 4-motion and a 2.0T.

Actually digging this. I like the chunky utilitarian look to it. Needs to have 4 motion and a TDI so someone can lift it and go off-roading like a baddass!
