my wipers on my Jetta move at a snails pace no matter what speed setting its at. George from tunedub said it was the base. i found someone selling the base on kijiji for 20 per side. my question, is it the base that is shot or the motor?

Re: Mk4 wiper base
Not sure what you mean by "base" and "per side"? The wiper linkage is one piece and seizes over time and causes the wipers to run slow.

You can take it apart and re-lubricate everything if its not too seized. Otherwise, dont waste time buying a used one, just get brand new.Last edited by onceover; 12-13-2012, 01:18 PM.

Re: Mk4 wiper base
nice! thanks for the DIY. i can see now that its controlled by one mechanism. i guess that is what he meant by base. i'll have to try it when its warmer. Thanks again.Originally posted by onceover View PostNot sure what you mean by "base" and "per side"? The wiper linkage is one piece and seizes over time and causes the wipers to run slow.
