    If i grab a blank mk2 key and cut it, will it work with a mk3 ignition cylinder?

    Probably. Immo wasn't introduced til like 2001 in mk4.

          You should get a small screwdriver cut to be your key, just leave it in your toolbox, you'll never loose it.

              Mk2 and mk3 key blanks are interchangeable.
