  • Need help installing a car headunit.

Hey guys! New here, been reading for a while but never posted.

Anybody experienced in car audio installs living in Calgary?? Im wanting to install a Pioneer Appradio 3 in a 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg. Toss you a case of beer or some cash to help me out with the install? Im also going to wire in two subs and an amp at the same time but that's pretty simple. If you could lend a hand or some knowledge that'd be much appreciated.

What do you in particular need help with?

I have always liked install my subs / amp with a 3-prong electrical plug. Makes removal simple

I need help with the wiring of the headunit, subs and amp are easy, more just the sources of power for the deck. You need to tap into a trigger source and a constant power source, and I just dont like screwing around with electricity. Just figured I'd ask for a hand on here before getting someone to do the install for me.

I'll likely be doing an install on a mk4 around the 30th. If you want to come by we can likely do yours at the same time.

PM me and we can try to set something up.

Re: Need help installing a car headunit.

So you have the wiring harness and antenna adapter already, the deck is simple power wise. The harness you got for your car will have the wires labelled and so you just match up those wires with the ones from your deck.

Do all the matching in a warm location, ie in the house then once you are done pull the old deck, and plug the harness into the oem wires and into the deck. You are only dealing with 12v and 20 amps, a spark yes, but nothing that would hurt you.

Disconnect the battery before you start or you could blow the fuse on the deck or wreck the battery.

Not too concerned about getting hurt, more about accidentally shorting something or grounding something. But if its really that easy maybe ill giver a shot

The stock double din unit is in there right now. Another thing, how do you bypass the e-brake? Is it as simple as just grounding the wire, or am I missing something.
