Help with spring install

Hey looking to install springs on 2003 1.8T soon, pretty sure i can't handle it myself, Sounds like the rear springs aren't to bad, but the front sounds tricky. any suggestions on an install place thats reasonably priced and does a good work.

I think someone on here posted something similar not too long ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember. Springs are relatively simple though so I'm sure there are a number of places you could go to have it done.

Yah the rears are pretty easy, just a couple bolts. But the fronts you'll need to rent a spring compressor. Pretty much any shop can do this for you, and its going to take them all the same length of time.

I've had my springs installed at two different places, (C1 and Trio) and they both took the exact same time, same price, same everything. So I don't there's much difference in where you go.

I did mine myself, borrowed a spring compressor from auto value, swore alot, used a screwdriver bit as the "special tool" for spreading the strut mount, swore some more, took my time but really wasnt too bad. Air tools are a must though. So if I can do it, any shop should be OK. Simon, did you save at Trio by having the same place do the alignment though?

Yah I had them do the alignment right afterwards, so I didnt have to bother with two different places doing each thing. Made it easier.

I did my own also, a decent mechanical ability is involved, and definitely air tools. Took me the better part of a day.

I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think it was about 3 hours labour, so $250?

3.5 hours @ 70/hr so like 250 buckeroos

Yah I read one earlier forum, somebody mentioned removing the drive line and a few other details about the front springs that seem tricky. Not Sure I'm up to that.....

Looking around it looks like there are a few guys looking to do spring installs, myself included. Maybe it would be worth while to get together, pool our resources and rent a shop on a Saturday, and help each other out.

yeah, I'd be down, granted it was a saturday that I'm not working (obviously!!), and I have the setup to put on.....I don't think its terribly tough either, I've done plenty of spindles, steering racks, and a couple struts (all junkyard stuff on play cars), so really minus the fact that I hate taking off my tires and its a hassle doing anything suspension or exhaust, it should be quite alright....
