  • Oxygen Sensor Issue

    Hi Everyone,

I am puzzled and thought I would see what your thoughts are. My sister has a 2007 GTI with 24,800 kms. When her car had 12,528 kms, she had the following codes:

My dad and I replaced the rear o2 sensor with a factory VW oxygen sensor and the codes were all gone and the car was running great. Today, she gets another check engine light with the car having 24,800 kms. I vag com'd the car and it is throwing rear o2 sensor codes again. How can a factory rear 02 sensor only last 12,272 kms? Any thoughts? Here are the current codes from today:

No mods whatsoever. 100% factory VAG with the exception of a European skidplate.

        Re: Oxygen Sensor Issue

Second time it came on is an issue with metering. The first time it was an internal failure on the sensor. Don't get me wrong the second time here could be a faulty sensor.

          Re: Oxygen Sensor Issue

I cleared the DTC and want to see if it comes back tomorrow. If it does, I think I don't have much of a choice but to replace it. I was hesitant to go bosch originally so went with a genuine VW one but I think if I need to replace, I will go with a Bosch as I think they are OE anyways. Thanks for the insights.

It is strange that the O2 is failing twice so soon. M
